Reflection

My writing process was first I had to re-read the rubric to make sure I fully understood what this assignment entailed.  After I thought I knew what this assignment wanted, I started brainstorming ideas by writing down a list of different topics I could choose from, that were related to issues in the community.  Once I had a good list I went through that list and chose my top three and started a rough outline of what I could write about.  The topic that had the best outline with the most information to write about is what I chose, which ended up being animal rights, specifically dealing with shelters.  I then wrote a more detailed outline of what was going to be in each paragraph, which helps me stay organized and on task.  It also allows me to visually see where I need to add more information, or where I need to take away information.  It also helps determine the chronological order of the paper from start to finish.  Once I was done with the outline I began doing research until I found three websites about different no-kill animal shelters.  Once the research part was done, I wrote my first rough draft, then got it edited.  I revised that first rough draft into a second rough draft.  And then I revised and edited that into my final draft.  I learned a lot about myself in the fact that I am way more passionate about animals than I ever thought.  After reading those stories and after doing all of that research, I respect no-kill animal shelters a lot more.  I also learned that the world is not such a nice place to all animals.  The animals need to have more of a voice and people need to give them that voice.  I think I have come a long way in writing.  At the beginning I didn’t put much thought into the theory or reasoning behind things, and know I seem to have a much better understanding and ability to analyze things differently and much more affectively.
